Is There a Semester Minimum or Contract?
No. Lessons are month to month with no semester or annual commitment. Start when you are ready and stop when you need to.
How Long Is a Lesson?
Suzuki lessons for young children are 30 minutes. Lesson lengths for older kids and adults are agreed with John at your free consultation.
Part of a Suzuki lesson is spent on games for rhythm and coordination rather than continuous playing.
Where Do Lessons Take Place?
In John’s home studio at 9292 Blagdon Dr, Mechanicsville, VA 23116, just north of I-295 near Chamberlayne Rd (US 301).
The studio is a short drive from Henrico, Hanover, Chesterfield, and Richmond. There is no music-school lobby or other lesson through the wall.
What Should I Bring to the First Lesson?
Your guitar, if you have one. If you don’t, come anyway. John can help match a guitar to the music you want to play and recommend other materials to buy.
How Do I Cancel or Reschedule a Lesson?
Please give John at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. John will help you arrange a new time and review the policy during your consultation and booking.
Do You Teach Instruments Other than Guitar?
The studio is built around guitar, including acoustic, classical, and electric, plus music theory, songwriting, improvisation, and recording. Ask John about bass, ukulele, mandolin, or banjo.
